D20 WWII Game

Some of you may already be aware, but I am/have started a WWII-style game, using the 3rd Edition d20 rules. (By the way, I apologize in advance for my general lack of military knowledge. This is by no means supposed to be a realistic representation of WWII or of military life in general.)

The current group is:

Saturday evening/night, we ran an introduction session. Some of the 'party' have been introduced to each other, and combat was waged:

It was a balmy June evening in the summer of '44 at Leysdown Airfield (approx 150 miles east of London). RAF (Royal Air Force) command had called together the 3rd and 4th sections (section being an 8-man team) of the 6th Airborne Division and explained to them the details. A young man by the name of Trent Morris was among the 3rd section. The soldiers were told the situation...

An Allied infantry platoon was stuck behind enemy lines, most likely wounded and low on men and supplies. Serge Suder was one of these soldiers. They were on a covert mission, which was to infiltrate and take over a Nazi-converted factory. Unfortunately, the diversionary force sent to distract the Germans was quickly defeated by an unexpected push by a large German armored column, coupled with intense air support. With the diversion eliminated, the infantry were detected, and they quickly found themselves surrounded. Their last known position is a French village known as Grenwich. Mason Fairway, a pilot shot down nearby, was known to be with them.

Command explained that the small group of airborne were to drop behind enemy lines, reinforce and resupply the Allies, and work back towards friendly lines. To aid this rescue effort, an Allied strike force, with fighter and bomber support, will clear a path for their safe retreat. After receiving their equipment detail, the soldiers of the 3rd and 4th sections were given until 0800 the next day, at which point they would begin drop preparations.

Meanwhile, in Grenwich, Sgt. Ron Thornson, a radio operator, intercepted German communications signifying that an attack on their position in the French village was to occur at an unknown time later that day. The small, wounded infantry platoon took up defensive positions and waited for Jerry. Thornson was shacked up in a two-story townhouse on the outskirts of the village with Mason and Serge. Right before dusk, the 3rd and 4th sections of the 6th Airborne began their drop over Grenwich... The same time the Germans made their move.

A halftrack with a mounted MG42 rolled up and began to make mincemeat of the dropping paratroopers. Meanwhile, Wehrmacht soldiers charged the village. Mason and Serge picked off nearly a dozen of the soldiers as they made their advance. Thornson was injured in the exchange, and Mason moved to tend to his buddy's wound. Serge's weapon jammed, allowing the Krauts enough time to set up and fire a Panzerschrek at the their position, nearly reducing the 2nd story to rubble.

Now joined up with Trent, the three soldiers evacuated the townhouse. As they hit the street, however, the dreaded halftrack advanced on their position. They prepared an ambush; Trent was proficient with rocket-launchers, and was prepared with an antitank weapon. Unfortunately, he misfired and did not hit the halftrack. The machinegunners opened fire, and severely wounded Serge. However, after a quick firefight, the halftrack's crew was killed, thanks to the bravery of the four soldiers.

That's where the intro session ended. Next, we'll pick up from there and hopefully integrate the rest of the party.
